Birth Story/Autobiography
I was due on August 17th, 1996. My mom and dad went to Carmel,CA. await my birth. They went walking all over the town. Walking up and down the hills was supposed to help so they did this for a week. Nothing happened. They went back home to Hayward, CA. and went back to the doctor; the doctor said that they should wait one more week and hope for me to come. Well I didn’t, so the doctor scheduled a cesarean section (c-section), for labor day Sept 3rd. They induced labor (that’s making contractions start) and after 9 hours with everything going fine, the nurse noticed that with every contraction my heartbeat went down; the umbilical cord was around my neck. Then all of a sudden the nurse said, “code blue” and pushed my mom to surgery. Dad was allowed to be there but they forgot to dress him in blue sterile clothing. So after they got him in blue, the doctor delivered me at 10:46 pm at Highland Hospital in Oakland, California. My Nana, Papa, and Aunt Kim were all there including my dad. I weighed 6 lbs. and was 21in. long
My parents are Ben Boatwright and Connie Boatwright. They’ve given me the feeling of acceptance and belonging. They’ve helped me find my morals and my ethical code. They gave me confidence and support as well as the tools and freedom to create and better my life. They’ve also given me a place to call home, a warm bed to sleep in and good food to eat. I owe my parents everything and I hope sometime in my future life I will be able to pay them back and be there for them just like they were for me.
My brothers are Aedan Hopper and Daniel Boatwright. They are talkative, motivated, smart, funny, hard working, and all around good people. When it comes down to how we get along and how they have affected my life I can say we don’t always get along but most of the time we are alike in all the good parts, like morals, ethical code, and beliefs. We disagree on little things; I pick left, they pick right and both paths lead to the same place. We get along great and they have been next to me my whole life and have had a big impact on who and I am.
My big brother does not live with me so we have never gotten in a fight and sometimes I wonder what that would be like. He has affected me by reminding me to always remember who I am and never forget. He’s also helped me remember to take care of the family and never leave them behind. It doesn’t matter how I think or feel about them or how they think or feel about me, we never leave each other behind.
There are two pivotal moments that have significantly impacted my life. The first one is when I attacked a kid on a field trip. A couple of teachers had to restrain me and the school suspended me for one week and said I could not come back to school until I got counseling. The second one was when I was arrested for selling and possessing marijuana in the 8th grade at Carbondale Middle School. I was charged with one misdemeanor of possessing up to 1-8 ounces of marijuana. I received twenty five hours of community service, one year of supervised probation, drug counseling, drug tests, an ankle monitor and one weekend in Grand Junction at the Division of Youth Corrections detention center.
The things that make me happy are music, going to concerts and helping my family. Other things that make me happy are living life with friends in good and bad moments and being alone in the wild.
What makes me sad is when I have no power to improve or help my family. Overpopulation, panic, genocide, disease, suffering in torment, helplessness, anguish and aggression makes me sad.
I have a lot of positive characteristics; I am hard working, attentive, committed, honest, respectful, and self motivated. My weaknesses are anger, frustration, not staying healthy, not being a team player and in general, hating people.
I am not religious and have no spiritual beliefs. I guess all I have for belief is the philosophy and the fact that their is power within. The meaning of life is to live your life with the people you love. LEAD BY EXAMPLE. I’m on this earth to plant my seed, pass on my genes and then die and rot in the ground and hopefully give my spawn the tools and skills they need to survive and carry on and pass on my genes. Got to stay in the gene pool. I may sound pessimistic but I don’t feel like I deserve much because I feel like I have not given enough. You can’t receive when you have not given.
I was asked to define beauty. I can’t define it but I can express how I feel about things I think are beautiful like art and nature. Ripples in water or great big rapids mix the feelings of fear with amazement and create beauty. Huge wildfires make you feel sympathy and at the same time you feel it absolutely needs to happen in order to have new life begin, to rise from the ashes and that is beauty. Sunlight breaking through the branches of an old maple or cutting a strip of sunlight through a shadow filled room. Art finishes what nature cannot.
Friendship to me is people with similar morals and core beliefs. Its people who care about you for who you are and not for what you have. To me its the size of your heart that matters, not the size of your wallet.
Home is a place where you feel that you belong. I cant explain it in any other way and if I tried i believe that it would lose its meaning. So I decided to find another definition of home, what home is to someone else. I looked up the definition for home and i found one definition that I had to share with you. HOME, an institution for people needing professional care or supervision. I had to share this definition because I find it to be hysterically cruel. I was asked, what are the three most important characteristics of being a good parent? I could only look back on my childhood to find a answer and I believe the three things that helped me the most where unconditional support, trust/honestly, and unconditional love and belonging. trust is a very important part of being a good parent because its important that your child trusts you and I think that through trust, your child with be able to trust you back and be able to be honest with you. love and belonging, its a basic need that all humans share. I believe that its important to meet this need as a parent but not to much or I think that the child will feel smothered. I am grateful for my mom and dads love. I am grateful for my mom giving birth to me and for taking care of me when I was to young to take care of myself. I am grateful for both my brothers friendship and caring. I am grateful for good music and my hearing. I am grateful for where I live and all the abundant resources I have in my reach. I am also grateful for my mental state, what would I do without it.
What do I need to focus on right now for my future happiness? Besides my anger that I have been working on all my life I would like to find someone to spend the rest of my life with. What’s the point of living if you have no one to share it with. But I’m not worried about it; if it’s meant to be she will come to me or I will end up coming to her.
Successful to me is to have a family, have a piece of land, and have a content mind. Success is a happy family rich in love. By my definition of success I am not successful but hope to be one day.
